Doctor of Philosophy in Information Technology - PIT

About the program

The Doctor of Philosophy degree is research degree by thesis under the supervision of experienced members of academic staff or a supervisory panel. A panel is made up of a graduate staff and experts from the University or other institutions. The minimum duration of study is 2 years for full time and 3 years for part time. The progress of a research student is monitored and assessed by the supervisor at the end of each semester. Final assessment is made through the thesis prepared by the student and an oral examination. A student who has satisfied the Examination Committee in all aspects of their work is eligible for the award of the degree of Doctor of Philosophy.

Doctor of Philosophy in Information Technology is recognized by Malaysian Qualification Agency (MQA) – MQA/FA5865.

Entry Requirement

Admission Requirement

  • Master’s Degree in Mechanical with Honours from UTHM or any other higher learning institutions recognized by the UTHM Senate or other qualification equivalent to a Master’s degree with experience in a related field recognized by the UTHM Senate.

Minimum English Requirement

  • Minimum score of MUET Band 3 or TOELF 500 or IELTS 5.0.
  • Applicants who fulfill the academic qualification from Institution of higher learning throughout Malaysia that is recognized by the Senate are eligible to apply for exemption from the English language requirements
  • Applicants who do not fulfill the minimum English language requirement but graduated from universities listed as the English Speaking Countries are eligible to apply for exemption from the English language requirements.
