UET Explores the Implementation of the Doctor of Education (EdD) Programme for the China Market

The EdD China Implementation UTHM initiative brought together UTHM Education & Training Sdn. Bhd. (UET), the Centre for Graduate Studies (CGS), the Centre for Academic Development and TVET (PPA), and the Faculty of Technical and Vocational Education (FPTV). The coordination meeting focused on the proposed Doctor of Education (EdD) programme for prospective students from China.

In addition, all parties discussed academic and operational requirements to support a structured programme. The meeting also provided an opportunity to align responsibilities before moving to the next stage of planning.

EdD China Implementation UTHM

During the meeting, the team discussed the proposed learning approach, academic requirements and programme implementation. In particular, participants reviewed the physical attendance requirements for students who plan to pursue their studies in Malaysia.

Furthermore, representatives shared their views on the academic structure and administrative requirements. This coordination helps ensure that the proposed programme aligns with university policies and academic standards.

The faculty will refine several matters based on the discussion. Subsequently, the team will submit the proposal to the relevant university management for further consideration.

After that, UET will continue discussions with the appointed recruitment agent to coordinate the next steps for the China market.

Representatives at the Meeting

Assoc. Prof. ChM. Dr. Faridah Abu Bakar, Deputy Dean (Academic and Research), represented the Centre for Graduate Studies.

Meanwhile, Dr. Abul Khair Anuar, Deputy Director (Academic Development and Accreditation), represented the Centre for Academic Development and TVET.

FPTV representatives included Assoc. Prof. Ts. Dr. Aini Nazura Paimin @ Abdul Halim, Deputy Dean (Research, Development & Publication), and Assoc. Prof. Ts. Dr. Fazlinda Ab Halim, Head of Department.

From UET, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Siti Sarah Omar, General Manager, joined the meeting together with Ms. Hanita and Ms. Elyya.

Expanding International Education Opportunities

The EdD China Implementation UTHM initiative supports UTHM’s efforts to expand its international education opportunities. A well-planned programme can provide prospective students from China with access to quality postgraduate education.

Moreover, collaboration between UET, CGS, PPA and FPTV can strengthen programme planning and improve coordination. Each party contributes expertise that supports both academic quality and effective implementation.

As a result, the initiative can help strengthen UTHM’s presence in the international education market. It may also create new opportunities for academic collaboration and student recruitment.

Moving forward, UET remains optimistic about the programme’s potential. Through continued collaboration, UET aims to expand access to postgraduate education and strengthen UTHM’s international engagement, particularly in China.
