5. Who Should Attend
For participants interest to be registered with Suruhanjaya Tenaga (ST) as Registered Electrical Energy Manager (REEM), the minimum qualification are as follows:
A Malaysian citizen aged 23 years and above Who ;
a. Holds a certificate of registration as a Professional Engineer under the Registration of Engineers Act 1967 [Act 138] and possess at least six months working experience in the efficient management of electrical energy at an installation;
or
b. Holds a degree in Science, Engineering, Architecture or its equivalent and possess at least one year working experience in the efficient management of electrical energy at an installation;
or
c. Holds a Certificate of Competency issued by the Commission as an Electrical Services Engineer or a competent Electrical Engineer and possess at least nine months working experience in the efficient management of electrical energy in installation;
and
d. Demonstrates knowledge of the requirements of the Act and these Regulations;
and
e. The Commission may require the person to attend an interview
6. Overview of the course :This course provides the basic knowledge and skills required to perform energy checks, surveys and analyzes for energy conservation and to provide a structure to energy auditing practices and to raise professional standards for those involved in energy auditing. The training covers the use of energy audit tools and report writing skills. Trainee will be exposed to real-life examples of performing energy audit tasks, things to do and not to do and updated input from the industry.
7. Who are they for?
For the fresh graduate who is embarking on a power engineering career, the course provides a transitional linkage between the theory of power engineering analysis and the practice of power system engineering in an industrial context. For the production or practicing graduate engineer in the preparation of his/her Professional Interview, the course enhances the understanding and knowledge of power engineering practice in an industrial environment. For the professional engineer or energy manager, it serves as a continuing professional development course that consolidates his/her practical knowledge and experience of industrial power systems by strengthening the practice on a firmer application basis i.e. revisiting relevant aspects for energy-saving from the engineering and production cost point of view.
This course is also open to engineers who are responsible for the planning and design of industrial power systems, and site engineers & supervisors, contractors, equipment vendors, project owner’s engineers and approving persons who are involved in or wish to have a deeper understanding of the design and building of industrial power systems.
