UETSB Explores Strategic Collaboration with PRefChem for Oil & Gas Talent Development

The UETSB PRefChem Collaboration brought together UTHM Education & Training Sdn. Bhd. (UETSB) and PRefChem to explore opportunities in oil and gas talent development. During the strategic visit to Pengerang, both parties discussed potential joint certification, upskilling and reskilling programmes.
The proposed collaboration aims to strengthen professional skills and create more industry-related learning opportunities. In particular, the initiative could benefit UTHM students, graduates and members of the public who wish to build careers in the oil and gas sector.
UETSB PRefChem Collaboration for Talent Development
During the meeting, both parties explored the development of industry-recognised certification programmes. These programmes could provide participants with relevant technical knowledge and practical competencies that meet current industry requirements.
In addition, the discussion focused on upskilling and reskilling opportunities. Such initiatives can help participants strengthen their existing skills, develop new capabilities and improve their readiness for changing workforce demands.

The UETSB delegation included Assoc. Prof. Dr. Siti Sarah Omar and Ms. Hanita Sakiran. Representatives from UTHM included Dr. Mohd Hafiz bin A. Jalil @ Zainuddin, Ts. Dr. Mohd Faizal bin Esa, and Assoc. Prof. Dr. Wahyu Mulyo Utomo.
Meanwhile, PRefChem was represented by its Leadership and Capability Management Department. During the discussion, both teams exchanged insights on workforce development, professional competencies and current industry requirements.
Furthermore, the meeting explored potential areas for future professional training and certification. By combining academic expertise with industry experience, both parties can develop programmes that respond more effectively to workforce needs.
