Integrated Smarthome Course: IoT, RF433 & Infrared Strengthen Smart City Initiative at Universiti Tun Hussein Onn Malaysia

A total of 19 staff members from Universiti Tun Hussein Onn Malaysia successfully completed the Integrated Smarthome Course: IoT, RF433 & Infrared. The course was held at the HP Aruba Laboratory, Faculty of Computer Science and Information Technology (FSKTM).

The course enhanced participants’ knowledge and practical skills in Do-It-Yourself (DIY) Smart Home configuration. It focused on integrating Internet of Things (IoT), RF433 communication modules, and Infrared (IR) technologies.

Participants gained hands-on experience in automating and integrating smart home and smart office devices. These exercises align with UTHM’s vision to support Smart City development in Batu Pahat, Johor. The programme promotes digital innovation and intelligent infrastructure.

Selected IoT devices demonstrated compatibility with AI-based voice control platforms, including Google Assistant and Amazon Alexa. This integration enables:

  • Enhanced operational efficiency
  • Improved convenience
  • Smarter environment management in homes and offices

Participants learned to connect devices for seamless automation and intelligent control.

The Integrated Smarthome Course reflects UTHM’s commitment to digital transformation, smart technology adoption, and industry-relevant technical competency development. It equips academic and professional staff with skills to contribute to Malaysia’s growing Smart City ecosystem.
