Certificate Course for Abattoir Competency Scheme at UTHM 2026

The abattoir competency certificate course took place successfully from 22 to 23 April 2026 at MyRIVET Lounge, UTHM. The program focused on strengthening knowledge and skills in halal slaughterhouse management. It also highlighted Shariah compliance and current industry standards.

From the beginning, participants engaged in structured learning sessions. They explored both theoretical and practical aspects of halal slaughtering. As a result, they gained a clearer understanding of proper halal procedures.

Halal Slaughtering and Shariah Compliance

The course covered essential topics in halal slaughtering. Participants learned Shariah principles and technical requirements. In addition, trainers explained commercial slaughtering guidelines and legal standards.

The program also emphasized the concept of halal and haram in Islam. Participants applied this knowledge to real operational scenarios. Therefore, they improved their ability to make correct decisions in halal processing environments.

Collaboration Between Key Organizations

The program was jointly organized by UTHM Education & Training Sdn. Bhd. and ISWAJ UTHM. Both organizations designed the course to strengthen halal competency development.

This collaboration helped improve training quality and industry relevance. Moreover, it supported structured learning for participants from different backgrounds.

Field Visit and Practical Exposure

Participants joined a field visit to a certified halal slaughterhouse. This visit gave them direct exposure to real industry operations. They observed slaughtering procedures and halal compliance practices.

In addition, this hands-on experience helped participants connect theory with practice. It also improved their understanding of operational standards in real environments.

Competency Assessment and Certification

The course included competency assessments to evaluate participant understanding. Trainers assessed both knowledge and practical application.

A total of 17 participants joined the program. They included staff from Universiti Tun Hussein Onn Malaysia and representatives from the industry.

Their participation showed strong commitment to Halalan Toyyiban practices. It also reflected growing awareness of halal industry standards.

The abattoir competency certificate course strengthened participants’ technical and Shariah knowledge. It also improved their confidence in halal management practices.
